Miguel Lopez
Miguel Alejandro López Jorge Miguel Alejandro López Jorge (born January 29, 1998) is a Cuban contemporary dancer, choreographer, and educator recognized for his strong artistic presence, expressive movement, and technical excellence. He began his dance training at the age of six in some of Cuba’s most prestigious professional arts institutions. His early education includes studies at the EVA Olga Alonso Professional School of Ballet and Fine Arts, the Samuel Feijóo Professional School of Dance (EPA), and the National School of Dance (ENA) in Havana, where he graduated as a professional dancer specializing in Contemporary Dance. Throughout his training and career, López Jorge has participated in numerous international seminars and workshops with renowned artists and choreographers such as Osnel Delgado, Pedro Ruiz, Rockland González, George Céspedes, Julio César Iglesias Ungo, Ana Meneses, Jorge Abril, Isael Mata, Christophe Béranger, Jonathan Pranlas, Fleur Darkin, Gretel Morejón, and Misty Copeland. From 2016 to 2017, he performed as a dancer with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, the country’s leading contemporary dance company. During this time, he performed internationally, including appearances at the Bolshoi Festival in Russia and the Fall for Dance Festival in New York. His career also includes collaborations in the commercial dance industry, appearing in several music videos including “La Gozadera” by Marc Anthony and Gente de Zona, “Que Sea Lo Que Dios Quiera” by Fanny Lu, and “Yo Voy Pa’ Encima” by Luis Enrique. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards, including Best Male Interpretation (2011), Best Choreography for the piece OK (2010), First Place for the contemporary work Después del Benni (2013), First Place at the International Dance Festival for Obicua (2015), Best Group Choreography for Sahel at Continente Épico (2016), and First Place in the National Improvisation Competition (2016). He later joined Jacob Jonas The Company, touring across the United States, and also performed with the renowned Los Angeles-based company Diavolo. Currently based in San Antonio, Texas, López Jorge is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Universe Dance School, where he continues to train and inspire the next generation of dancers while maintaining an active career as a performer, choreographer, and educator across the United States and Mexico.
